This proposal is part of a series of projects which the main objective is to explore and develop architecture objects inserted in urban contexts, as a result; is the aim of a group of buildings that can dictate the shape of the city. A development of three main conditions is explore in this proposal; architectural, programmatic, and urban interests are the subjects explored in a sports complex building in the hyper center of Quito city, La Carolina Park.
The proposal First concern comes from the interpretation of the lot as a currently isolated site that is located between two important components of the area: the city and the park. The building becomes a physical connector between the separated areas that are articulated through volumetric and spatial exploration, allowing each sporting activity to be interpreted to an outdoor space. As a strategy of form, the habitable wall is the main component of the project and the element that connects the urban context with the landscape.
The programmatic development of the project and its articulation with the city and the landmarks have an important role in its composition. This allows the conditions of the park to flow into the building through its exterior spaces, creating a continuous articulation between public and private activities and a synergy between outdoors and indoors spaces. Volumes and forms of the building are shaped between this strategy in order to connect the building, not only physically, but spatially and visually with the city and the park.
